An SR-22 is not actually insurance, but rather a certification or verification that you maintain car insurance liability coverage. A SR-22 is a Judge, state mandated certification, filed by your auto insurance carrier with the States DMV. 

Also, keep in mind that an SR-22 filing is for a period of time, typically no more than 3 years and can be removed after the specified time.
